You answer under timed conditions, either by downloading the PDF or using our computer-based exam platform, which replicates the MCS exam environment.

Q: What is the CIMA Management Case Study (MCS)?
The MCS is the second case study exam in the CIMA/CGMA Professional Qualification. It is a Management-level exam that tests your ability to apply E2, P2 and F2 knowledge to a realistic business scenario. You take the role of a finance manager and answer tasks based on a pre-seen company and new unseen information. The exam is three hours long.
Q: What pre-seen case is being used for the November 2026 MCS exam?

Q: How is the MCS different from the OCS?
The OCS tests operational-level knowledge from E1, P1 and F1. The MCS operates at Management level and uses E2, P2 and F2. MCS answers must be more analytical, commercially aware and written from the perspective of a finance manager. You will deal with more complex performance-management, management-accounting and financial-reporting decisions.
Q: How is the MCS different from the SCS?
The MCS focuses on Management-level decisions using E2, P2 and F2. The SCS is the Strategic-level case study, using E3, P3 and F3. Q: How long should I study for the CIMA MCS?
Most students need five to seven weeks of focused preparation, assuming they have already completed E2, P2 and F2. The key is active practice: understand the Wuudbreak pre-seen, apply relevant theory and write mock answers under exam conditions.
